Who will Jake Paul fight in the PFL?… Peter Murray reveals number one target

EXCLUSIVE: With Jake Paul determined to make the transition to MMA, PFL CEO Peter Murray has confirmed the identity of the man he’d love to see ‘The Problem Child’ square off with in the cage.

On Thursday, the Cleveland native flew out to Washington DC to host ‘The Battle of the Giants’ press conference promoting the major heavyweight title clash between Francis Ngannou and Renan Ferreira.

Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz could happen in the PFL

On August 5, at the American Airlines Centre in Dallas, Texas, USA, Jake Paul and Nate Diaz went toe-to-toe in a brutal war of attrition.

In the early portion of the contest, the YouTuber showcased his skills in abundance, picking off his rival and even knocking him to the canvas.

However, as the fight rolled on, the MMA legend rallied back, showcasing his heart and relentless work rate to put Paul under enormous pressure.

Despite giving his fans a glimmer of hope that a comeback could be on the cards, ultimately, Paul prevailed, winning via decision.

However, the final bell didn’t end their feud, with the social media icon keen to run it back with Diaz in the PFL.

And the promotion’s CEO would love to make his dream a reality.

He told Sporf: “The Diaz conversation is fun. They mixed it up already. That’s a possibility, but there are several others that are definitely in the mix and we’ll be sharing those details with Jake at the appropriate time.”

While some may think that the Cleveland native will avoid hard tests in favour of easy fights, Murray has assured that while the possibility of bringing a boxer over to the PFL is possible, Paul would much rather challenge himself against the best of the best.

He said: “Yeah, as you know, it’s a tough transition. Claressa Shields made that transition, and Savannah Marshall did as well in our women’s divisions. But it could be interesting given Jake’s experience. However, I think Jake wants to fight someone with significant experience in the sport, and I think that’s what the fans want.”
