On the morning of his interim title defence against Curtis Blaydes, Tom Aspinall spoke with Noel Gallagher about using an iconic Oasis track for his walkout song.
With Supersonic blasting from the speakers, the Englishman gave the world an electrifying moment shortly before rendering his opponent unconscious in front of a packed house at the Co-op Live in Manchester, UK.
Noel Gallagher is a fan of Tom Aspinall
With phenomenal power, lightning-quick hands and a humble personality, Aspinall is becoming a household name in the UK, with millions, including one of the biggest pop stars in the country jumping on the train to enjoy his ride to the pinnacle of the sport.
Blown away by what he’s seen of the ferocious puncher, Oasis-songwriter, Gallagher contacted the formidable fighter simply to wish him luck for the bout, completely unaware that the 251-pound monster intended to use one of his biggest hits to accompany him to the cage.
At the post-fight press conference, Aspinall told Sporf: “I reckon it was solid, and to top it all off, I got a message from Noel Gallagher this morning. He WhatsApped me. I’ve no idea how he got my number.
“I just sent one back, saying, ‘Yeah mate, I’m coming out to Supersonic as part of my walkout, and he sent one back, saying, ‘That’s amazing’. He loved it. I hope that Noel and Liam got to see it. Paddy Pimblett’s walkout is pretty amazing, but for me, personally, I don’t think I’ll ever get a walkout and reception like I did tonight.”
