With a smile on his face, the gifted athlete went above and beyond to help the youngsters in Wigan learn a new skill.

Whether his students had experience or not, he did everything in his power to boost their confidence and give them an experience that will last a lifetime.

He beamed: “I was massively impressed. For me, as long as you’re willing to put in your maximum effort and give all your attention to progressing in anything that you do then I’m happy. We’re doing MMA today, and every person I worked with was fixated with their eyes and ears open. That’s all I want as an instructor.

“I was fortunate to have both of my parents in martial arts, so I had that guidance from a very loving place. So, this feels like home to me. Anytime when I’m in a scenario where youngsters are looking up to me, taking instruction and guidance, I’m in my happy place.”

The rewarding day reminded MVP what it was like in the early days of his kickboxing journey, prompting him to share a crazy tale.

The 37-year-old reminisced: “The wildest story of my kickboxing career is fighting at the age of 13, and I managed to get onto the senior England team for adults, which is for over 18s. I was the youngest to do it at the time. I was a reserve, and when they put me in, I performed my a**e off. For me, that was when I truly turned into MVP. I was kid Michael at the time, but when that happened, I became MVP.”
